On Tuesday 8th March we celebrate International Women’s Day, and this year in 2022 the campaign theme is #BreakTheBias. A common challenge that we all face on a daily basis is judgement, but IWD’s mission is to help that and try to create a world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. Imagine a world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive; where difference is valued and celebrated.

Not only this day but every day we celebrate the women of HLB Insolvency that help keep us together, each of the women below are an integral part of our team of which all of them provide their own unique and valuable expertise and talent.

Rikki-Lee: Practice Manager

“IWD is such an important movement to celebrate and support, not only for gender equality but to encourage diversity in all aspects of life. Success, value, and accomplishment isn’t defined by gender, nationality, religion or even age – we all have purpose in this world and it’s important to remember that”

Mikayla: Receptionist & Administration/Marketing Support

“International Women’s Day is an important day and serves as a reminder of how far we have come as a society towards gender equality and all the achievements big and small that women have accomplished.

Laura: Insolvency File Support Officer

“IWD for me is a day to celebrate and acknowledge the strong and amazing women I have in my life as well as those that I have lost, especially my mother in law, Wendy. It’s a time to reflect on how far women have come, to acknowledge and take pride of our accomplishments but also to shine light on how far there is still to go.”

Louise: Insolvency File Support Officer

“International Women’s Day for me is a day to acknowledge what women have achieved and are still achieving towards making the world a more equal and better place.”

And since we are talking about gender equality and diversity, here are the men of HLB Insolvency that wanted to get in on the selfie action too!

So, how can you get involved? Here are some creative ways to help #BreakTheBias

  1. Get your staff involved in the #BreakTheBias photo challenge for social media
  2. Shout your team a coffee to celebrate your female employees
  3. Get out of the office for a team breakfast or lunch
  4. Get everybody to wear purple
  5. Invite a motivational speaker
  6. A simple “thank you” goes a very long way!
